Britain's Got a Talent 2.013: amazing attraction by the Shadow Theatre Group

Here you can see a wonderful and emotional performance from the British TV programme "Britain's Got a Talent 2.013" carried out by a group of shadow dancers. It tells a story  which covered love, romance, marriage, birth and death as they dance to Emeli Sande’s "Read All About It" song behind a screen on stage. It's fantastic!.

The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool, in 1960. They became the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed act in the history of music.Their best-known lineup consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. 

They originally started in 1950s with rock and roll, but the Beatles later utilized several genres, ranging from pop ballads to psychedelic rock, often incorporating classical and other elements in innovative ways. In the early 1960s, their enormous popularity first emerged as "Beatlemania". 

"Hello, Goodbye" is a song by the Beatles. The song was released as a single in November 1967, and topped the charts in the United States, the United Kingdom,France and Norway. The song also was a number two hit in both Austria and Switzerland. Enjoy it!.

Sightseeing in London

London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom and the largest city in the United Kingdom. It is located on the River Thames and has an official population of 8.278,251 in the urban area. London has a diverse range of people and cultures and more than 300 languages are spoken in this city, but English is the main language!. London has more than nine million visitors every year. They come and visit some of the most famous buildings in England- the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament, the Tate Modern. 

You can see some of the most interesting places by getting on one of the special visitors' buses. You can get off (and on again) at the places you want to visit. 

Or you can take a ride on the London Eye. This big wheel slowly takes you 135 metres above the River Thames. From here you get wonderful views of the city. 

Buckingham Palace is the Queen's London home. It is at the end of a long road called The Mall. On some days you can see the Queen's flag- the Royal Standard- above the building. Then you know she is staying at the palace. You can visit some of the rooms in August and September. And most mornings of the year you can watch the soldiers outside "change the guard". 

In 2.012 , London became the first city to host the modern Summer Olympic Games three times. There are over 240 museums in this city. The most famous museums you can visit are: the British Museum, the Jewel Tower, the National Gallery (with over 2,300 paintings) , The Natural History Museum, The Science Museum and the Tate Modern.

Hi again!. As an English teacher I teach this language and I study the teaching of it. But,  why do I want to teach English, as opposed to other foreign languages?. It is easy for me to consider this basic question occasionally. The key is the importance of English nowadays.

English is not the most widely spoken language in the world in terms of the number of native speakers. There are many more Chinese speakers than native English speakers. But Chinese is spoken little outside of Chinese communities, so English is the most widespread language in the world. English is an international languagea and the most widely used. 

So, there are good reasons to learn English. Besides, it is one of the most important subject leaners have at school and at high school, and as teachers we have the duty to teach them how they should study it. That is what we call the "leaning to learn" skill. If you follow your teacher's advices, you will learn English properly. It is a matter of effort!.

Most of airports, roads and trains stations use English as their language in most parts of the world. Hotel staff usually speak English than any other second language and it's the language used by pilots. Learning English makes travel easier.

Learning a language is excellent mental stimulation. The brain is like a muscle, if you don't use it, you lose it. Of course you can get the benefits from studying from any language, but since it takes a lot of work and commitment, you might as well learn a language thats really useful.

6. New Experiences
Learning a language opens up new experiences. You can talk with people from different countries and cultures. You can watch their movies, listen to their music, visit their countries, read their literature and chat with them. If you learn English you could do this with 1,800,000,000 people!. 

7. Know Your First Language
The more you study another language the more you learn about your own. When you learn how one language functions, you begin draw parallels with another. When we learn a new language we end up comparing it to how our own works, so the very act of relating with another way of speaking reinforces the knowledge of your own language. 


8. Friendship
The internet is a great way to make new friends. You can chat online or communicate through social networking sites. 

9. Life Skills
Learning language takes practice patience, and persistence. You have to put in a lot of time doing routine memorizing and remain focused, thorough and analytical yet also stay open minded and be willing to risk embarrassment. Learning a new language forces you to confront your own limitations or being unable to express yourself. But all these things teach valuable life skills that build you as a person, and which you can apply to other areas of your life.

10. World Peace

The world needs more conversations between people from different parts of the world. If we can communicate with each other,  then perhaps we can gain a deeper understanding of our common humanity. The more we talk with others, the more we realise how much we share, and it sure beats the alternative of living isolated in our own linguistic islands of mutual distrust and xenophobia.
